The Renaissance is more than just a home or apartment. It's a true lifestyle.
At times it can be unsettling to think we will need assistance in the future, so it's hard to imagine what it might be like to use assisted living or nursing services. I'll tell you, a dear friend of mine recently moved from her apartment into assisted living at The Renaissance, and the attention and care she is receiving is superb! I'm no longer nervous about the possibility of needing those services - I know I'll be treated like a queen here.

The Renaissance is dear to me because its halls resound with the laughter of life.

I moved to The Renaissance for three reasons -- location, location, location. Living here has provided me with the opportunity to pursue the activities I love, such as concerts, theater and visits to museums in Cleveland, my work for the Institute for Learning in Retirement at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea and visiting my friends in the Brecksville-Broadview Heights area. At the same time I enjoy a safe environment with help available for all my needs. My future care is guaranteed and my two daughters, who live far away, are delighted Mother in in such good hands.

My wife and I have much enjoyed downsizing from a five-bedroom, two-floor home to a lovely Renaissance villa. It's spacious enough for our present needs. The amenities here are first class, especially the dining room. There is hardly any need to prepare a hot meal. Also, it was comforting to know health care was immediately available if needed. That need materialized in the past 48 hours, and was excellent.

I chose to move to The Renaissance because of the in-suite washer and dryer, my attached garage and the size of my villa.

About three and a half years ago I knew that my husband and I needed to move from our condo and find a home where we could live independently and still access some support for my husband's health. I had several friends living at The Renaissance and had been here for dinners, meetings and parties. We found all the people very friendly and welcoming and some went out of their way to get acquainted with us. Later, when my husband passed away, the other residents were very sympathetic and caring -- and the longer I am here the more I realize how generally kind most of the residents are. Even though I was aging myself, I must admit, I too harbored notions about old people that many others do -- that age makes you senile, your intelligence, tastes and abilities decrease to nothing, and that you're unable to do anything, mental or physical, without help. It has been a revelation to me to find so many intelligent, capable, and sensible individuals here. ... And when I asked a physician why he went into geriatrics he said "because old people are nicer." That alone is a good reason to be here.
In other words, the people here are wonderful, in all sorts of ways; the staff is, without exception always helpful, respectful and friendly, the service is good, the food is outstanding (and better than my cooking!) and I heartily recommend The Renaissance to all other older persons and all those who expect to be older.
